Mute Angst Envy first formed in 1987 in San Jose,
California. The early period of the band culminated in the release of the Trust
EP on Epithet Records. The Archetype/Trust CD, released in April 1992 on 21st
Circuitry Records, charted on college stations around the country and was
distributed both nationally and internationally. Mute Angst Envy supported this
album with many headlining shows, as well as supporting touring bands such as
Xymox and the Wolfgang Press. In 1995, the band took a hiatus, and in 2004, Mute
Angst Envy started playing and
recording again.
The latest Mute Angst Envy release, South 11th Street (Kitchen Whore Records),
is a study in extremes. Beauty and aggression play opposing forces throughout
the album. The darkly melodic songs range from atmospheric dreamscapes to heavy
rock. This album contains new material and previously unreleased tracks.
Includes MAE's version of the Cure's "The Figurehead".
